Chisinau is the capital, the largest city, and the administrative, territorial, economic, scientific, and cultural centre of the Republic of Moldova.
The city is located on the edge of the southeastern slope of the Central Plateau of Moldova, in the forest-steppe area, being crossed by the Bâc river.
Alba Iulia and Chisinau develop cultural and social programs.
The two cities twinned in 2011.
