Fontainebleau is a French city, the sub-prefecture of the Seine-et-Marne department, in the Île-de-France region.

The city is famous for the Fontainebleau Castle, located in its vicinity, one of the favourite residences of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The twinning of Fontainebleau and Alba Iulia took place in October 2022, during the celebration of the Centenary of the Coronation of King Ferdinand and Queen Maria.

The two cities develop intercultural, educational collaborations and exchanges of various experiences.
