THE EQUESTRIAN STATUE OF MIHAI VITEAZUL

Date of construction: 1968

The statue of the voivode who first accomplished the unification of Romanian lands is the work of sculptor Oscar Han and was unveiled in 1968, on the occasion of the half-century anniversary of the unification of Transylvania with Romania. The bas-relief of the Unification created by Horea Flămând was encased in the wall of the former Princely Palace in May 1975, when Alba Iulia celebrated 2000 of urban existence and 375 years from the first political unification of Romanian lands.
